Time for Thiebaud!

Third graders have really been focus on color lately.  Earlier in the year, they mixed tertiary colors, and how they have gone on to become masters of tints and shades.  We looked at the realistic food art done by Wayne Thiebaud.

We found that he used many tints and shades in his works.  After sketching a few ideas for their own tasty art, students painted their artworks, mixing all the colors themselves.  Students will  be assessed on paint control (we practiced and talked about this all the time) and whether or not they included at least 2 tints and 2 shades.  I’m hungry..you?  Here is some work by Nathan, Jeremy, Sarah and Piper
