Realistic Watercolor with 4th Grade

After talking about composition, students took photographs from a classroom still life of various plants.  Then, after working hard to get a rough drawing of the general shapes, students embarked on showing realistic color with watercolor paint.

Using layering, appropriate brush size, patience and a keen eye, students worked to capture color variations in their flowers.  Here are a few examples:

    Wow! These are done by 3rd graders!?! That is amazing, some of them are so great that I would buy them….Great Job 3rd graders!!!!
